The art experience
I experience many forms of art in one of two ways: either it hits me right between the eyes, or it grows on me because of shared experience.
For example, anything by Chopin? Right between the eyes. Same for some of Satie’s Gnossiennes, Sierra Nevada Morning, Aaron Copeland, The Blenders, some tracks from Powerman5000’s “Tranform” album, David, etc.
On the other end of the spectrum? “I don’t like it.”
But, just to the left is, “Well, if YOU like it, I’ll give it another go.” The result is usually that I grow to love it, because it reminds me of you, and I can experience it through your perspective. And, these pieces of art tend to weave themselves into my heart more deeply, more permanently.
